Description of Program
All programs offer varying degrees of difficulty to meet the needs of each child.
§ Cooking and Nutrition offers children an opportunity to learn to measure, follow recipes, recognize the food groups, and practice setting the table.
§ Kindergym provides experiences that develop both large and small muscles. Children practice throwing balls and bean bags, jumping, hopping, skipping, walking on the balance beam, dancing to music.
§ Let's Pretend provides children with an opportunity to dramatize some of their favorite nursery rhymes and fairy tales. They discuss each holiday and learn to make and use simple puppets.
§ I Like Myself builds self-awareness, self-esteem, independence, and an awareness of those around us (family and friends). They discuss feelings, visits to the doctor and dentist, and how to love and care for pets.
§ Music is defined as a pleasant arrangement of sounds and not just making noise. Hopefully children will develop an appreciation for music through singing, playing rhythm instruments, marching, and dancing.
§ Ready, Set, Go provides children with a variety of activities involving color and shape recognition, counting, recognizing numerals 1 through 10, repeating the alphabet, and recognizing a few letters, especially those in their name. Related crafts are used to develop fine motor skills.
§ Safety programs are designed to make children aware of the safety precautions we take at school with our equipment and bicycles, and the procedures for going up and down stairs. We also discuss dangers at home, school, on the playground, and in shopping malls.
§ Science is intended to awaken the child's curiosity about the world around him-air and water, seasons, weather, plants and animals (past and present), and his/her own body. Children participate in discussions, make dioramas, go on nature walks, and perform elementary experiments.
§ Sensory Awareness activities are presented in an effort to make them more aware of the importance of their five senses in learning about the world around us. We also work on developing fine motor skills.
§ Story time gives the children an opportunity to hear some of the best children's literature available. Hopefully this instills in them a love for reading and teaches them how to care for their books
